To create speed and dynamics in your photography, you could try zooming back during exposure. This turns a stationary figure into the center of swirling, fast movement (part of the picture blurs to suggest movement). This does require a longer exposure time, so you would need to compensate by adjusting your aperture accordingly. For Better Texture... |
To capture the texture of an object properly, you must avoid direct sunlight or studio light. This will strip the photo of it's texture even if you can see it when taking the picture. The trick is to get up as close as possible. Don't use your zoom or telephoto lenses. Focus could also be the problem if your texture shots don't turn out properly. Play with the focus for a few minutes to be sure.
